It has been suggested that a few of you may be interested in hearing from me
about the past 5 or 6 months. To keep the story short (this IS long distance!)
there were about 100 to 120 hackers using Telemail (yes, and some 10 or 15 of
them were "scpp"). Anyway, most of us hackers were very polite to the computer
and it's data; a few of us could easily have taken down the entire system for
months if we really wanted to. There was one person though, one person who was
given a few high-level passwords by one who used to be on this board as "The
Hacker"; He thought it would be really neat to delete some nodes belonging to
NASA, UNIX, EDUCAT(?), and even TELEMAIL....so the next morning thousands of
people tried to log on and couldn't. Well, I guess I can understand why
Telemail got mad; the FBI is starting to panic though because they can't find
anyone to arrest...
Now, one thing to keep in mind: there were 13 juvies and 15 adults raided:
that's...hmmm...1..3.....1..5...mmmmmmmm....27..no 28. now, 28 people, and the
4 "scpp" people alllll went screaming to the papers....it is a bad record, but
they neglect to tell of how they posted their phone numbers publicly. Ah well,
such is life...

-oh yes, the "damage" done to NASA et al was fixable via 30 second
command; but there was some trouble there.

I now have all my equipment back, along with my choice of publishers......

                                                          Did I leave anything
                     out?

                                                                         Crack

It is really almost impossible to make a scanner transmit. It would be easier
to make a vic 20 run IBM memory cards. Best bet s going to the TRW swap
meet and buying old UHF ham equipment, the kind that doesn't have protection
from transmitting out of the ham band...

AAso, an ICOM 4a handie-talkie can transmit from 450-455, but can't recieve
there... but the only stuff there is TV remote channels and other industry
type stuff...

MMst of the digital-display radio transmitters will not transmit out of the
ham band by the way.

HHwever, Ham type antennas (UHF band types) work fine out of band.

aad then there is commercial 800 mhz stuff... but that is expensive.
